In
order to maintain the Principles (Integrity, Honesty, Openness and
Professionalism) and Rules (Transparency, Confidentiality and
Handling of Conflict of Interest) of the Korea Environmental Council
in Europe which are specified in the Code of Conduct for the Korea
Environmental Council in Europe, the Planning, Strategy and Public
Affairs Committee plays a key role of formulating, coordinating,
conciliating, mediating, discussing and lobbying interests of
Members. |

Sustainability
become a key factor for sustainable operation of businesses.
Sustainability is not easy to define rather its elements include
corporate governance, corporate responsibility, corporate social
responsibility, sustainability reporting, environmental protection
from industrial operations that may cause environmental pollution
and safety and health of employees.
Sustainability Committee endeavours
to ensure sustainable and sustained business operations of Korean
companies in the European market. For this purpose, the Committee
has a special focus on "regulatory compliance" and
"corporate social responsibility". |

As
traditional barriers to trade decrease (e.g. customs duties) through
the World Trade Organisation and bilateral or regional free trade
agreements, new barriers to trade have been arised in the forms of
non-trade barriers, technical barriers to trade (TBT), etc.
For individual companies, it is
really challenging work to monitor never-ending amendments and
enactments of technical regulations in one foreign country, to meet
all applicable standards to their products and to declare conformity
of their exported products with importing countries.
The Technical Regulations, Standards
and Conformity Committee provides venues to overcome market access
and entry barriers. |

Trade Policy Committee

Trade Remedies Working Group |
With
in-depth analysis of day-by-day development of trade policy in the
European Union and the Member States, the EU Trade Policy Committee
monitors and examines potential obstacles against the free flow of
goods and service in the European markets. In close cooperation with
the Technical Regulations, Standards and Conformity Committee, the
EU Trade Policy Committee actively communicates
with the European policy makers and advocate interests of Korean
exporters the European market.
In
particular, the EU Trade
Policy Committee pays special attention to anti-dumping and
safeguard measures employed by the European Union and the Member
States.

The
Industry and Corporate Policy Committee monitors and discuss
industry-specific issues impacting trade and investment in the
European market.
To do
so, the Industry and Corporate Policy Committee provides venues for
corporate experts actively working in areas, e.g. voluntary CO2
emissions reduction from automobiles, EU WEEE and RoHS Directives,
REACH, GHS.

Economy and Information Security Committee

Information Compliance Working Group |
The
Digital Economy and Information Security Committee has two
functions, i.e. internal and external. Internally, the Committee
secures privacy and data protection and network and
information security of the Korea Environmental Council in Europe.
Externally,
the Committee monitors information security issues of the European
Union and Member States which are related to ICT products and
solutions. |
